Angler's Reef

June 6, 2009

On our way out of the harbour it was decided that we would dive the Corsair as our first dive.  But when we arrived at the site the surface conditions were just too choppy to get everyone in and out of the water safely.  So instead we headed closer to Oahu and did a shallow drift dive on Angler's Reef.

We drifted the reef for the first 15-20 mintues of the dive.  I found this shrimp hiding from the current and predators under a reef.  You can see his antenna flowing in the current.

Then the current took us off the reef and we began drifting over the bottom.  It was relatively featureless except for reef out croppings like this one.

I did get a look at of something I'd never seen before.  Here's a video of a Crown of Thorn on the move.  I wish the video was a bit longer and more stable but I got pulled away by the current.

We ended the dive and everyone got back on board safely.  After out surface interval we moved on to the next dive site.
