The Bistro

August 22, 2022

The first shark dive of the trip! Everyone was buzzing about our first trip to the site The Bistro.

We got the dive briefing at the shop. Descend to 18m and kneel in-front of a short rock wall built by Aqua Trek. The wall overlooks a lower area known as The Arena.

The Bistro

This is where they feed the sharks from wheelie bins, full of cast-off fish parts. They start with the bins on the ocean floor to scent the water and attract fish and sharks to the site.

Scent the Water

The sharks take a keen interest in the divers on the wall too.

Sharks

Once all of the fish and sharks are ready to east, they suspend the wheelie bin above the arena. Ropes holding the lid are cut and the bin is tipped using ropes to let the fish parts out bit by bit. Although that doesn't stop the sharks from going in and getting it themselves. It's wild.

First Feed

After the feed was over, we ascended as a group past a couple of wrecks.
