Mamaru

October 17, 2023

Off to Mo'orea, Tahiti for our 20th wedding anniversary but I managed to fit in some diving in a few mornings as well. I went out with the fantastic people from Mo'orea Blue Diving. A great dive shop with professional and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

On the way to the first site of the first day, Mo'orea was in fine form and there were humpback whales in one of the bays putting on a show for us. It was a mother whale teaching her baby whale to tail slap, fin slap, and even breach. We were a long way away so the images are small but you can see the baby whale breaching in the pics below. Quite a sight, even at that distance.

As soon as we descended there were turtles on most reefs and under outcroppings. It was great to see such a healthy population of turtles.

They could be camouflaged quite well!
