Instant Octopus

October 18, 2025

The first 5 minutes of the first dive of the season were epic … instant octopus. As soon as we descended, I got my camera out in case something amazing happened.

Something amazing happened. My buddy out ahead saw this octopus crawling along the ocean floor and headed right for me. Hence, the incredible close-ups. I was able to follow it for almost 5 minutes before it wandered away too quickly to follow.

New Zealand Octopus

Some other stuff happened on the dive but really it was just me waiting 45 minutes to get out so I could check out the pictures and video.
