Artificial Reef

May 16, 2026

The last dive of the day was on an artificial reef. The diagram for this one was a little less professional. :)

Artificial Reef

It was a very box-like structure made up of steel, concrete, and rubber tires.

Some cool wildlife on the artificial reef too.

Hancock's Flatworm

Gloomy Nudibranch

Pixy Hawkfish

Golden Hawkfish

The current was so intense that we had to use our reef hooks at the end to stay on the top of the artificial reef while we flapped about in the current like kites.

When we finally disconnected, our dive guide deployed his SMB and we estimated we drifted for 1 km while we did our safety stop.
